i wonder what cb ilaine's excuse for detroit would be?
oops, there i go again, forgetting to be kind :0)
btw, an amazing thing ... today, in between all the words hurling, i accompanied a good friend to the local hospital to fix accidentally snapped right leg and cracked left foot (fell off stairs while shying away from some pet dog that was on leash on the path to beach) - including ambulance ride (got to us within 5 min of cellular call), examination (within 5 min upon arrival at hospital), surgery, medicine, etc etc - USD 12.00, all in, and no waiting for services, plus good food as well - and the nurse that mattered was too CUTE to boot.
i do not know how socialized medicine work around the planet, but here on money rock hong kong and freedom mountain kowloon, it definitely worked today.
all the while the thoughts went through my head on the at least quarter mil i had spent over the past two decades on private insurance that was never called on except for baby delivery that was only 50% covered ... must re-examine my premise about public medicine and bias against everyday care
earlier in the year we had undertook to treat our filipino nanny for her lympho TB with combination of private doc and public medicine - private doc (supervision) bill came to about USD 2k, and public treatment tallied to USD 12 x 8 (eight monthly visit x registration fee). She is cured.
my mind is boggled.
i think i got the message. |
