Amazon has already done this. After downloading a song, it immediately shows up on iTunes (and I believe Windows Media as well).

Yes, the difference between Walmart's mp3 store and Amazon's is the user experience. Besides the auto-load into iTunes, which is a neat trick, Amazon was also wise to not bother offering anything other than mp3s. Walmart also sells protected WMA files and thus has a much wider selection of music overall, but it's a pain to have to istinguish between DRM'ed and non-DRM'ed downloads. In that way, iTunes is the same (assuming you care about not buying DRM'ed music).

As for the 360 as a media extender, another neat trick. Interoperability is great :).
