What interests me is how the younger left finally got it about Ahamdidjad. When he said no gays in iran, he lost them. Back in the day when i was a protestor against the vn war, I knew a guy in one of the more radical groups. He thought ho was cool and a TJ disciple. In later year, we talked and he said he was shocked at what the NVN did to folks in the south---things that he denied would happen and then denied happened. That in turn reminds me of my uncle the communist from the 40s and 50s who gave up all politics after proof of Uncle Joe Stalins crimes were corraborated by the Soviets themselves.
There are moments when tyrants do faux pas or are outed that are important. Ahamdijad became a joke like kim in NK with that one comment that showed his ignorance or his fanaticism or both.
