Steve,
I played with LMRA last Yr during its Oct-Nov run. At that time what caused the spike was its presentation at the Westergaard SmallCap conference & the announcement of the successful testing of its millimeter wave wireless bridge, which is able to transmit vast amounts of data by a variety of high speed telecommunications networks.

But my interest on it was more because of its NanoCaptur arrays and ProteomicProcessor, since I have one of my son in laws doing some work in that field.
There is a good amount of interest & competition with several companies involved, many of them in this list:
functionalgenomics.org.uk LMRA in July formed a wholly owned subsidiary, Plexera Bioscience, which is where it transfered the operations of its bioscience business and is led by Joseph Vallner, Ph.D, which was before at CEGE & years ago at Syntex & GD Searle.
Leroy Hood, M.D., Ph.D., president and co-founder of Institute for Systems Biology, & Josh LaBaer, M.D., Ph.D., founder and director of the Institute of Proteomics at Harvard Medical School, joined LMRA's Scientific Advisory Board in April 2006.

I sold most of my shares at $10, but still have a small token position.<g>
