The measure of equality here is based on the fundamental value we have for capital as a cultural gauge. Those things that effect opportunities to acquire capital on an equitable basis are important to us (employment, transportation, property, influence, etc)

Seeing them absent in other cultures seems unfair and unequal. Other cultures may view capital holdings and opportunities as a matter of differences in need based on the requirements of your role in family and community.

We are very advanced if we measure equity on opportunity to acquire capital but there are still differences, are we equal in other areas, do men get harassed, raped, assaulted, exploited at the same level or frequency as women? Is it a pervasive issue? Is it connected to the fundamental value we place on capital? There are other measures we could pick as well. We are different, objective outsiders might argue that we are not necessarily more equal.
