Dear Saturn:

In two local cities, WiMax deployments were cancelled as the technology did not work as advertised. It had quite a bit of problems dealing with elevation changes (hilly land). In fact both businesses involved with the deployments, said that with the current state of the art, they can't make money with it (it requires too many "towers" to service an area). It doesn't bode well for WiMax for large scale deployments.
