It doesn't bode well for WiMax for large scale deployments

Apparently the rest of the world does not listen to the supreme fount of knowledge which resides in your imagination.

Sprint has committed to spend $5-8billion over the next two years for WiMax in USA. Korea has already being wired for WiMax, several cities in USA already have WiMax service, and the technology is being tested and deployed in dozens of countries.

Of course you will not believe what I have to say !
Here is just one web site which covers WiMax developments
wimaxxed.com

Here is a quote from the Linux world:
linuxdevices.com
"Cellular, telephone, and cable companies have had little concern about the future of WiMax. But, that is likely to change. Soon."
