Dear Saturn:

There are many attempts to build out, yet you must have missed the news stories about how many build outs were cancelled due to technical problems and business decisions that the test areas failed to provide sufficient revenue to continue as a viable business. One company stated that the required number of base stations was far higher than originally estimated and thus, the costs were too large to continue any build out given the revenue generated.

Basically the only way this gets built out is with significant government subsidies. Its a lot easier to build, if it never needs to make money. This could change in the future when the base stations are a dime a dozen and can be put on every pole in the area. Typically what happens is that when it is cheap enough, the desired performance is far higher than what it can reasonably do.

Also did you notice that many of those stories in that first website are months apart and nothing was posted in the last month?

Pete
