< Intel,Xerox and Internet>

I never denied that the basic conceptual definition of Ethernet was done at Xerox. But remember that from 1971-1980 the Ethernet was confined to the ivory tower at Xerox, and went no where until Digital and Intel agreed to set a standard, and start delivering Ethernet to the world. I do not want to belittle Xerox's intellectual contribution, but Xerox was getting no where in making it a commercially viable product.

Remember that Xerox also pioneered the familiar Graphical User Interface, but got no where commercially. Finally Jobs picked it up, and brought GUI to the Mac,which was eventually copied by Microsoft.

In the same way WiFi was not developed by Intel, but Intel made it pervasive by setting standards.

Intel's Intellectual Property contribution to the WiMax is probably greater, but it been instrumental in getting several partners to share their intellectual property and set a world wide standard.
