Looking beyond rhetoric, it can be instructive to examine where candidates stand on the military budget.

The US already spends more on the military than the rest of the world combined. And all the major candidates (Democrat and GOP) except Kuchinik and Paul want to hike it further.

A military budget of this size is no sense defensive, but bespeaks a desire to carve out an empire overseas in fact if not in name.
