Some would say that it is an inappropriate use of his position to comment on the equities markets, with what appeared to be an intentional goal of effecting stock valuations. You can argue that the means justify the ends of reducing the threat of inflation, but I'm not sure I want the Federal Reserve deciding what price Intel or any other stock should change hands at between willing buyers and sellers.
I know I wouldn't want any other government agency, say the Department of Transportation, influencing those decisions. Just for the sake of argument, I think A.G. has done a very good job.
