Amazon Bestselling MP3 players are nearly all Apple models. I came across an article reporting Apple models representing 9 out of the top 10 bestsellers. I took a look and found that Apple is 5/5 among the top 5! Summary for the top 25: Apple 17 Sandisk 5 Zune 2 Creative 1 Most Apple models are new. And asize from those and the Zen and Express, I think the rest of the models are older. New models should be on their way, but time is running out for Christmas season if not in the pipeline (i.e. no new Zune?). Only new shuffle that makes the list is the Purple one, making that the most popular new color. There was a Zune model among the top 5 a couple of weeks ago when it was selling for around $150. Now at around the $200 price point, sales are falling. With the cost of the HD at $100+, there can't be much profit left at $150. Apple left a void at 30GB spot right now as the low cost/value point that's squeezed between 16GB flash models that are smaller/sleeker and 80GB models for only a little more cost. 1.
