Yeah out of one side of your mouth you say the subsidies should be eliminated and out the other you say "but they make up for them in taxes" or some other BS justification.

Its not a justification for the subsidies. They should go. It is however an argument against the idea that the oil companies are massive net receivers of money from the government, and that because of that reason we should look for ways to grab more and more money from them.
