Best advice if you keep your computer on the floor: clean the fan inlets and outlets - those are the worst spots where dust accumulates and causes problems. I have lots of computers on the floor (eh - short of space and besides they're harder to kick when they're taking up precious desk space) and that is the main problem - inlet/outlet airflow clogs.

While there is some dust accumulation inside, stuff on the circuit board has never caused any problems. Problems have arise when I have neglected my first sentence, eh cleaning the inlets and outlets. There is a fan on the power supply to clean also...
