Cuba was nothing more than a mafia state when Castro intervened.

Talk about supporting dictators...what do you suppose Batista was?

There was no middle class. A Cuban was either rich or poor.

Of course, that condition would have supplied the gamblers, who wanted to turn Cuba into a gambling resort, with an ample supply of prostitutes...albiet better paid than the ones that were trying to feed their families under the Batista regime.
