From my personal experience, Toshiba laptops have the best quality, by far. Apple and the others aren't nearly as durable, which is the #1 quality I look for in a laptop.

I am pretty sure that Quanta makes Apple laptops. It isn't surprising that Quanta makes the majority of laptops sold. I think that Compal has the Toshiba contract, though I'm not positive.
