The expansion of 20B per year is a tiny part of the federal deficit. Maybe it is believed that war costs will be significantly lower. If not...those additional 5k distributed amongst 300MM Americans will drive up their liabibities by $66, per year, uncompounded. Ensuing inflation will ensure that the effect is not to be felt by the anyone.

Doing a the math yields the national debt at 8.1T (27k * 300MM). That high? Thats way ahead of what I thought it is, being 60% of current GNP
This is roughly the level many of the debt laden European countries budgets also have.
