To mitigate, banks had rewritten the bankruptcy laws in order to allow liquidation of contracts in Ch.11 untarnished. This means that the fittest and strongest counterparties can get away in time (which is key) and with good value.

This means that if a financial firm like a hedgie blows up the only assets falling under protection from creditors are the pencil sharpeners...
