the problem is that in this case insurance also creates buying pools that mean they pay less for the same services as some individual going to the hospital off the street, and we are talking about a 40% price differential so this is not insignificant. Unfortunately in our case the insurance industry not only allows to cover statistically insignificant events, but also manages to subsidize itself off the public, that is the real problem imho.
