Come on Elroy, you know that removing Saddam was a recipe for disaster.
No, it was a recipe for the Iraqis gaining self determination to do what they want with their lives rather than live under an oppressive hated dictator. They had a choice, and many have chosen to murder each other rather than live under Iraqi leadership that the majority of Iraqis elected. It's only a recipe for disaster if the Iraqis themselves are a disaster.
Under the US formed Iraqi government, those Iraqis were seen as traitors.
No, they were seen as a new source of power for the new Iraqi leaders of Iraq. Those now out of power Iraqis that want to rule Iraq but were not elected to do so killed the Iraqi police recruits. It's a pursuit of power by Iraqis to rule over other Iraqis that drives them to kill each other, not American intervention. The American intervention seeks to stop that inter-Iraqi bloodshed, and encourage them to live amongst each other as do most normal humans. Killing innocent Iraqis is not an example of resisting traitors, its pure and simple pursuit of power over their fellow man.
I repeat my question to you Elroy, if America was invaded what would do, sprinkle rice and flower on your invaders?
America is free, so your question is not relevant. Most Iraqis hated Saddam and wanted him gone, but had no mechanism to get rid of him. The last thing anyone (even Arabs) expected was for Iraqis to start wholesale killing EACH OTHER in order to protest the removal of Saddam. The decision to kill other Iraqis rather than live together under their Iraqi government is an Iraqi decision, and they bear the consequences of that decision.
It was the locals that demanded the progress and it was not shoved down their throats. And no one is denying the foreign influence in Dubai, the influence was requested and was not imposed. Which part you do not understand.
You ignored the key part of my post. Without foreign influence "shoved down their throat", Dubai would not exist. If Dubai had been left without foreign influence & protection, all of the UAE would have been swallowed up by Saudi Arabia. The only reason the UAE exists at all is because foreign influence (oh bad bad bad!) created it in the first place. So go ahead, if you think Dubai is a nice place in the Arab world, lets hear you praise "outside powers" for creating it. Write a paragraph of praise, this should be interesting to read. |
