this is exactly what ought to happen, in a biblical sense, to spendthrift deadbeats who hide behind bankruptcy lawyers
i mean, after all, to quote an incoming e-mail,
"... i agree that the personal responsibility of borrowers is downplayed in most of the press. it should be exactly the other way around. what is it with these borrowers? are they children? they didn't know they were getting in over their heads with those huge debts? note that this socionomic phenomenon (the demonization of lenders coupled implicitly with the exoneration of borrowers) is bound to lead to the wrong decisions on the policy level. politicians won't dare to stand against this trend, on the contrary, it appeals to their populist instincts..."
As the deadbeats did not apparently learn Home Ec 101, it is now time for tuition.
I say stuff them, take away their homes, repossess their cars and gadgets, leave them with the bubble gum wrap in their wallets, but take away their coach wallets, and put a few in debtors jail as example of what must happen, to keep true to traditional family and economic values.
Of course, on that platform, one would not get very far politiclly, and yet, that is precisely why the proposal is the correct one for troubled times.
Rule of thumb: Be popular and be wrong.
Platinum-clad dictate: Go against traditional values, suffer the consequences, the natural way or the harder way.
BTW, BUYGOLD.
