Yes. I use a heavy cast iron reversible griddle with the raised ribs up. It covers two stove burners from front to back. I let it heat up. Then I brush the ribs I will use with a folded paper towel lightly drizzled with a bit of olive oil. I like to grill swordfish steaks seasoned and brushed with oil. They come out perfectly with grill marks and perfectly cooked throughout. Literally takes only a few minutes per side. No smoke. No splatter.

It is easy to clean by applying a soaking wet paper towel to the cooking area while still hot and then easily finished up later as any burned on material has softened.

I suspect my griddle is a cheap one given to me by someone who never used it. Trying to cook pancakes on the other side leaves a combination of burn marks and raw batter shaped like my burner - but it works well for grilling seafood on the ribbed side. I have also used it on occasion for shrimp.

I am looking now for one of the newly popular ribbed grilling skillets which might be even better for my needs.
