The managed servers enable CDN customers to further rely on Internap's expertise for their Web-based businesses while ensuring faster time to market. As an addition to the company's robust CDN solutions, customers can lease servers on a contracted, month-to-month basis, resulting in lower initial capital expenditure than purchasing servers directly. The servers integrate with the CDN to support rich streaming media applications for the Web. Internap provides complete maintenance and management of the servers and also installs the Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Linux operating systems upon which customers' applications are layered.
