I think US/Israel might be blackmailing the syrians about something. The Syrian response has been very lame, very weak. OTOH, an alternative reason might be that with tensions so high, the Israelis didn't want to risk prodding Bashar Assad or his generals into starting a war, which they might have if they had gloated. It's better this way for Israel. Everybody in the Mideast understands what they did. Not only can the Israelis still pull this kind of raid off, but Syria's expensive new Pantsyr air defense system proved absolutely worthless. And guess what kind of air defense system Iran has?
