Iran has no intrinsic need to hate the USA Yes they do. They say so all the time, esp. the Mullahs. They hate us because we are the Great Satan. We are powerful infidels and our power stops their global revolution. They go out of their way to insult us, stomp on our flag, and yell Marg bar Amrika at every turn. They have no intrinsic need to destabilize Iraq either. A Shia dominated Iraq would be a fine neighbor for them, far better than Saddam. But they hate us too much. So they train the Mahdi army to kill Americans and arm them with shaped charges.
