Iran has no intrinsic need to hate the USA
Yes they do. They say so all the time, esp. the Mullahs. They hate us because we are the Great Satan.
No, you're quoting the leadership's party line and pretending that it speaks for the Iranian population. Explain why a 20 year old Iranian kid or 30 year Iranian mother or 50 year old Iranian Kurdish farmer has to hate the USA. They don't - I know that, and you should know that.
French and Germans are friendly, French and English are friendly, the USA's greatest ally is England. All these different sides have been at war with each other at some point in their histories. If French and German populations can get over WW2, the US can get over some Iranian unloved political establishment saying "Death to America" at the end of their session.
To claim that there is something inherent in the Iranian cultural makeup that necessitates hatred for the USA, while producing no such hatred for Russia, China, Brazil, Australia, or Japan, is pretty stupid. Try again, you can do better than that!
How do all these Iranian immigrants to the USA lose this intrinsic US hatred? Is it attached to an Iranian passport which they forfeit when they immigrate?
They have no intrinsic need to destabilize Iraq either. A Shia dominated Iraq would be a fine neighbor for them, far better than Saddam. But they hate us too much. So they train the Mahdi army to kill Americans and arm them with shaped charges.
It's great that you bring up Iraq. Part of my plan to ally the US with Iran could include handing over to them the primary responsibility for stabilizing Iraq. They make a lot more sense than us as a stabilizing force - they're the neighbors, and are the same religious faction as ~65% of Iraqis. Both Iran and Iraq seem to want our involvement in the region minimalized, which is probably for the best since the various sectarian battles in the region are compltely foreign to an open multi-cultural society like ours. The US could simultaneously extricate itself from Iraq and ally itself with the party which will likely have the greatest influence in Iraqi affairs. |
