"Peace is not the aim and won't happen."

How optimistic of you. Whether you are right or wrong, israel must always go the extra mile. Israel must never lose the democratic impertative and should always opt not to be the garrison state.

As for iran, as i have pointed out, iran is like the old USSR. There is a revolutionary and ideological component and an national one. The Russians dealt with this contradiction from 1917 on. The Mullahs are not immune either. IF common sense says good relations with American is important, it may eventually become part of the ideology as did peaceful coexistence which replace trotskys perpetual revolution. Same with mao and china even during the worst extremes of the Cultural Revolution. For example in Indonesia they supported the PKI while at the same time cozying up to nationalist Sukarno. Also worried about local chinese folks in indonesia. Iran has folks living abroad, need good relations with neighbors and has no national interest in a war with US.
