Several football players from my alma mater are in deep doodoo with the law. They are basically hired guns, not really university students.

I think this violates the entire principle of sport.

My Dad had a model football stadium the size of an ash tray. He didn't smoke, but when he offered to buy it from the hotel they gave it to him in gratitude that he didn't steal it like everybody else did.

The inscription on that model stadium:

"When that one Great Scorer comes to write against your name He writes not that you won or lost, but how you played the game."

I think universities have gotten addicted to football money, and I'm not going to contribute to their addiction.

I now keep the stadium to remind me of what it says. I'll pass it to my son, who already knows the principle it illuminates.
