but besides Apple's greediness, there are some copyright issues that need to be played out. Similar with ringtones.

I cant speak to the video out issue, but IMO you are giving Apple way too much of the benefit of the doubt when it comes to ringtones. Every other handset manufacturer has handsets that allow for the consumer to set their own MP3's as ringtones. That includes Nokia who has plans of their own for a music store (and actually already runs one through Loudeye).

I have yet to hear of a lawsuit by the RIAA of any of the other handset manufacturers.

Nokia is already moving to take advantage of some of these missteps....
