Secession talk is about desperation. Not so long ago, most people believed that government responded to the average person. Now, "people's experience [is] that government doesn't deliver the goods, problems don't get solved," says Ruy Teixeira, author of The Disappearing American Voter. Bingo! Give that Teixeira fellow a hand. I have experienced what he relates first hand in Katrina's aftermath. All it takes is an experience like the one we went through to change views. The federal government should be only a 10% of what it is. The Founders would be appalled to see its size, incompetence, and lack of responsiveness.
