Analyst Upgrades Force Protection
A Friedman Billings Ramsey analyst upgraded Force Protection Inc.'s stock Monday, saying he expects the U.S. and other governments to place more orders for the company's armored vehicles.

Force Protection (nasdaq: FRPT - news - people ) shares climbed 17.9 percent last week, rising with other defense stocks after Pentagon officials requested nearly $190 billion in military funding in 2008, $42 billion more than previous estimates.

Of that $42 billion, $11 billion would be used to order 7,000 additional mine resistant ambush protected vehicles.

On Wednesday, analyst Patrick McCarthy upgraded the stock to "Outperform" from "Market Perform," and lifted his target price to $25 from $18. He said the Defense Department will order 1,500 more mine resistant vehicles this year, giving Force Protection a total of 8,000 orders to fill.
