The story that I heard on the radio today was that yesterday Chrétien was golfing with a heart specialist and mentioned to him about having infrequent chest pains. The Doctor advised him to get it checked out.
The next day he has a quad bypass!

A few points:

Chrétien is a private citizen. He no longer is the Prime Minister nor is he a member of the government.

According to the radio news reports, he did not have a heart attack.

Jean must have figured that ( … he cancelled at the last minute after feeling sick and being advised by his doctor not to travel from his home in Ottawa.) this was an emergency as he did not travel to the US for the procedure.

How many heart patients in Montreal suddenly had their scheduled heart surgeries for today postponed/rescheduled?

Medical waiting lists be damned … For the privileged, waiting line jumping is normal operating procedure.

Did I mention that Chrétien is now a private citizen?
