KC officials investigating death of man after Tasering

Story by Kris Vera-Phillips
10:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Police are investigating the death of a man who died after being stunned by a Taser.

An autopsy is being conducted in Kansas City, Kansas.

It happened Monday night when police were called to investigate reports of a man taking off his clothes and smoking drugs.

Police ended up fighting with 43-year-old Keith White. They shot him twice with a Taser gun.

He later died at a hospital.

"What gives him the right to kill, and they say Tasers are what? They might have well shot him. He might as well used a gun," White's mother, Leyva White, said.

Police said they have used the Taser about 200 times since 2004.
