Why on Earth should a corporation, or anybody, be "committed" to the "American middle class"?
Businesses should be interested in the financial health of their customers. Remember that quip about America sneezing and the rest of the world catching a cold. To some extent businesses, government and consumers are in the same boat...starting with government providing currency, laws and military protection. A healthy middle class has evolved with democracy over the centuries. One would hope everyone would be in favor of giving it a chance to thrive.
But your question is good. Especially if currency is lousy, taxes too high, military not as significant a factor, and plenty of consumers available overseas.
Pure freedom would be Anarchy in the best sense, Libertarianism to the point of no governments whatsoever. I can almost buy it and agree with what you say. But, unfortunately, there are bad guys like Hitler or Saddam.
BTW, I totally agree that the middle class has made some terrible choices.
