The other factor is that most people sink a steady stream of "capital improvement" dollars into a home. I always had a project or two going on in my house, but my wife takes it to a new level. I never imagined what a significant fraction of our budget would go into home improvements. The only way I can keep from coming unglued is the fact that at least some of that money comes back later down the road, as evidenced by the recent quick sale of our home. BC
