NM looks much better right now, having just blasted thru the 50-day MA on very heavy volume, indicating a renewed institutional interest. The 100-day MA is at $6. NM has not been able to close above the 100-day MA for more than one day. I won't be convinced that this rally is meaningful unless it can remain above $6. What's more, the 200-day MA is around $7. NM has been below this trendline for more than a year, so if it can penetrate it, we could be in good shape.

The revised Q2 consensus is -.22 (reporting on 10/30). That's a nice improvement over the previous estimate. Perhaps that means that NM's business is improving. That would be a nice change of pace, wouldn't it? If NM beats estimates, the stock should rally nicely. If not, look out below. On the bright side, NM's lousy year has dealt it a favorable outlook for earnings comparisons beginning with Q3. Analysts expect NM to be marginally profitable in Q3. That would compare to a loss of .24 last year.
