re: In general they've reacted to regulatory efforts in what ever manner suits their own interests, from pushing it, to ignoring the efforts as much as possible, to fighting it tooth and nail. They have endured an era of no regulation, and they realize that without rules you can't manage with integrity. It's like a football game without referees. Chaos, and the cheapest cheating team wins. Government is necessary to society, like it or not. Frankly government is society.
