You've already had the only answer you need. siliconinvestor.com

Since that's not enough for you, there are many practical reasons why registration is unworkable.

Numero uno: criminals will not register, so the only people who are affected are law-abiding citizens.

Numero dos: the government will come knocking on our doors every time your unregistered .38 goes off, because their database has our .38s but not yours.

Numero tres: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Registration is an infringement.

Numero quatro: Who is going to pay for this giant database that doesn't work? Answer: Law abiding citizens who buy guns, register their guns, buy ammunition, and so forth. You won't have to pay because you don't register your .38.

Numero cinco: No conceivable benefit will arise from this giant infringement.

Numero seis: Registration does nothing to prevent crime; it only makes it easier for criminals to get away with it.

etc. etc.
