I had xp pro on my old machine and it was great. Bought a new machine with vista and again a learning curve, but nothing insurmountable. Continually asking for permission to access programs, but I can live with that. Had a problem with Explorer shutting down of its own volition, but downloaded a fix that resolved that problem. So far so good. Two programs, does sound like you are not going to stress the OS. Good Luck.
