It always was on the "dumb" side, even when Ernie Bushmiller was drawing it. Still, it got a smile most mornings. Like other great strips that tried to carry on after the originator died, it never had success like the original. Witness Pogo, while drawn and written by Walt Kelly was an absolute classic. Attempts to bring it back fell on its face. Ditto Li'l Abner. Charles Schultz's family was wise in their decision NOT to let anyone else try to continue Peanuts. That was a strip I never cared for, even when Schultz was still alive and drawing it every day.
