Stick a fork in Dems>New 'New Majority' for GOP Let me see.....you don't believe in polls but you are ready to believe the words of one Republican who got what...5% of the vote when he ran for president? Why has Congress failed? Because it is terrified of the possible consequences of imposing its policy. Maybe.......or it could be that the Dems can't get any GOPers in the Senate to go along with them in order to overcome the 60 vote cloture requirement. So war legislation gets stopped. It seems the ones who are more afraid are the GOPers. Congress fears Bush may be right -- that a rapid troop withdrawal risks a strategic disaster and humanitarian catastrophe. Having been lacerated for the loss of Eastern Europe to Stalin, of China to Mao, and of Southeast Asia to Hanoi, they desperately do not want to be held responsible for losing Iraq to Islamic radicalism. LOL. I bit of an exaggeration. As if GOPers were off the woods while the above events were happening. In fact, the fall of Vietnam came under Nixon's watch. All the Democratic candidates but Hillary favored a federal law banning smoking in public places. Would that mean U.S. attorneys prosecuting bartenders for letting patrons puff away. Are Democrats going to take the nanny state national? Do they think Middle America is Mike Bloomberg's Manhattan? This really shows how out of touch you all are.....most cities in this country already don't allow smoking in public places. And you guys are still worried about putting the bars out of business. You all are so reactionary you're making this country look stupid and inflexible. All the Democratic candidates except Dennis Kucinich favored the Federal requirement that states outlaw drinking by 18-year-olds, which means high school kids who join the Marines can't have a night of beer with their buddies before heading to Anbar. I see.......in spite of the fact that most teen accidents occur because they were drinking and accidents are the one of the top three killers of teens, we are supposed to allow 18 year olds to drink so they can have a beer with their buds in Iraq. Pat Buchanan is nuts! The rest of it is nuts........this country flourished under the 8 year tenure of a Democrat and has floundered under the tenure of a GOPer. Let me see.....which would I prefer........flourish or flounder? Sorry, Ann, I go with flourish.
