Is that sharing not cheating the copyright holder out of his/her fair due?

NO, not at all, yaetmo. I am surprised you don't see a difference. I frequently buy books and give them to friends or family when I'm done with them, or donate them to the library or charity. Not the same thing at all and here's why:

1. A book is not a monthly advisor newsletter that is subscribed to and paid for by those looking for timely opinions on market trends, hopefully to profit from said timely advice. See the difference?

2. If I bought a book and promptly sat down to transcribe it to the internet without the author's permission, I do believe the author may have a problem with that, and I'd have a problem, too. And rightly so.
