You may have that backwards.. the Asian "mercantilists" need the US economy to remain strong in order that they can continue to sell to us.

And the talk is that the ECB will lower rates in order to weaken the Euro (which is killing their exports to the US, as well as making it too expensive for Americans to travel there).
