SI Rag--I'm really not making this up.
I believe this occurred in Canada.
Some fire officials were checking over the results of a forest fire they had been fighting and just put out. The fire was about 20 kilometers from the ocean. They came upon the body of a man dressed in a wet suit, mask, flippers, and other diving equipment. An autopsy revealed he had not died of a fire related problem but rather massive internal injuries and trauma.
From the location where he was found and the fact that the immeadiate area around him was not burned, they were able to deduce he had been scooped up from the ocean by a heliocopter using a giant water bucket and dropped 300 feet on to a burning area of the fire.
Everyone I know, including me, feels that guys luck was out. He had used it up. He could not have survived the day if he stayed home and sat on his couch.
