We were visiting the area about 10 yrs ago and found an idyllic little cabin for sale on Lake Ponderay at the end of the road near Glengary. We drove around a bit just to check out the rest of the area and ended up in Midas right around lunch time.

There were only a few people in the only restaurant/bar in town, and soon after all but one of them left, we struck up a conversation with an old time Aspen transplant. He'd lived in Aspen around the same time as we had.........the early '70s. At that time in Aspen, people that had been there for a few years were appalled that it had been discovered and so left in a migration to Sand Point to get away from all of those crowds. The entire population of the Roaring Fork valley couldn't have been more than 2000-3000 people then.

He must really hate what's happened to Sand Point.
