It would take a Godzirra-sized change in strategy (and execution) for them to try and transform their economy from exports and turn it inward into something driven by domestic consumption -- fun to think about on a certain level, but not very likely unless something dramatic takes place that isn't presently on the radar.

What Japan hasn't been able to do for 15+ years because of their liquidity trap interest rate policies is pry much money out of people's hands to invest in Japan rather than somewhere else. Show me how that changes, and then you'll get a Yen rally driven by repatriation and carry trade unwinds that would be nothing short of monumental
