Even though ECB did not raise interest rates, the leader Trichet points out, that there is still danger of medium-term inflation, and ECB is ready to raise interest rates as soon as necessary.

Personally I believe, that U.S. economy matters less to EU today than 20 years ago. EU economy is bigger than the American, has less oil consumption and Asia has become a huge trade partner.
