Doren, I doubt if my search problem is permissions based as the file will show up in the search window if I open and close it at least once after migrating to my MBP. Also, the owners of the files are supposed to be the same since I did a migration of user accounts as well. Anyway, I'll try out the programs Jeff suggested when I have more time, and hopefully one of them solves the problem.
