An interesting piece on the mac in business from information week

informationweek.com

it has some interesting information about file sharing in leopard which might be germane to some of the discussions here about that in the past week.

Nice to see that Apple has continued its ride up in share price. I might lock in some of the profits on some of my jan 140's if there is a nice runup into earnings.

An interesting interview is part of the podcast here with Chris Breen who wrote an article questioning if Apple is getting a bit arrogant here

macobserver.com

Personally, I don't think Apple is any more arrogant than they have been in the past but I could see where that can be open to debate

The new Zune seems to be a nicer product but is it relevant at all right now? It would seem to be an iPod challenger if it was released at least 1 year ago. The biggest thing here might be if it gets some coat tails from how it interacts with the xbox. Anyone with any info on this? With MSFT's poor track record on hardware as in the repair record on the xbox, does that have any relevance to the Zune?

For me, the biggest thing that most of these new offering whether they be MSFT or Time Warner or something else, it would seem that the companies are trying to force the consumer into behaviour that they don't want, a subscription service for music. That is why I think the Amazon service has the best chance of success. They seem like one of the companies that is best tuned into giving the consumer what they want or are asking for.

Lastly, we should be hearing something about Leopard soon. We should get a nice boost in share price if it meets or exceeds expectations. I think that if it does, there are many hardware purchases that are just waiting for the new OS. Anyone dare to believe that if Leopard lives up to expectations, that maybe Apple can do close to 3 million machines in 1 quarter? It wasn't too long ago we were looking at 3 million machines for the year.
