CB, you should read the fine print in Pax Americana. It isn't quite as "free trade" as you are perhaps thinking. You should consider what "human rights" and "habeas corpus" fine print says in Pax Americana. Check out "personal freedom" in the fine print of "Homeland Security" rules and "The Patriot Act".

Personal freedom is much talked about and anyone foolish enough to believe it will soon find themselves given forceful guidance in the true state of affairs, by government officials, the criminal community, or their bossy neighbours.

Which isn't to say the USA is worse than other places. It's better than most in many ways.

If King George II declares an alien to be a non-person, their human rights and freedoms are circumscribed [at best]. Even Americans can be non-personed these days I believe.
